Check out the clip below, and don&#8217;t worry if you don&#8217;t speak Spanish. There, accompanied by fellow directors Joe Dante and Alejandro Brugues, Mick lifted the veil on the project once again, this time announcing that it was being prepped for a 2018 release.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fjoseph.russo%2Fvideos%2F10108595456587991%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"616\" height=\"346\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Following Son of Monsterpalooza, the press is once again humming with details, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/nightmare-cinema-mickey-rourke-leads-cinelous-anthology-movie-1039326\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">casting of Golden Globe and BAFTA Award winner Mickey Rourke<\/a> as The Projectionist and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000328\/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richard Chamberlain<\/a> as\u00a0Dr. Mirari, a key character in a segment penned by horror master Richard Christian Matheson.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Also in the news is the announcement that <a href=\"http:\/\/cinelou.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cinelou Films<\/a> (the development, financing, and production company behind Jennifer Aniston&#8217;s award-nominated <a href=\"http:\/\/cinelou.com\/cake.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Cake<\/em> <\/a>and the upcoming Iraq-war drama <a href=\"http:\/\/cinelou.com\/yellow-birds.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Yellow Birds<\/a>) has teamed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortitudeint.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fortitude International<\/a> to coordinate the film&#8217;s release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11205\" src=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/David-and-Mick-3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/David-and-Mick-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/David-and-Mick-3-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/David-and-Mick-3.jpg 777w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>And just this week, at Podcast One&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.podcastone.com\/post-mortem-with-mick-garris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Post Mortem with Mick Garris<\/em><\/a>, director David Slade can be heard talking about his life in film &#8212; an impressive career that has brought us <em>Hard Candy<\/em>, <em>30 Days of Night<\/em>, <em>Twilight Eclipse<\/em>, <em>Hannibal<\/em>, and <em>American Gods<\/em>. David and Mick cover all of those productions, and although I was pretty sure I already knew a lot about them, David managed to reveal quite a few intriguing revelations during the hour-plus podcast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bottomline: if you&#8217;re a fan of dark cinema, you&#8217;re going to love listening to David&#8217;s interview on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.podcastone.com\/episode\/David-Slade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Post Mortem<\/a>. Give it a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.podcastone.com\/episode\/David-Slade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click<\/a>. And while you&#8217;re at it, take a moment to subscribe to the series. I was on set for filming this past June, and a few weeks ago I screened a rough cut of the <em>Egress<\/em> segment. It was intense. Even without the final score or completed effects, I found it profoundly unsettling and moving. As David says in his <em>Post Mortem<\/em> interview: &#8220;It really surprised me how intense it was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As of this writing, <em>Nightmare Cinema<\/em> is moving toward a release in early 2018. But the story won&#8217;t end there. As Mick tells Simon Thompson in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/simonthompson\/2017\/09\/26\/joe-dante-and-mick-garris-talk-gremlins-hocus-pocus-and-nightmare-cinema\/#2246823c3cea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent\u00a0<em>Forbes<\/em>\u00a0interview<\/a>, there are plans &#8220;to create more [&#8230;]\u00a0<em>Nightmare Cinemas<\/em>\u00a0either as feature films or as a TV series.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And so the journey will continue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For now, there are certain to be more exciting developments as our release date approaches.
