So much fun &#8230; and exhausting in a way that always seems to leave one strangely energized. As a result, I&#8217;m up early today, catching up on writing and perusing the reviews for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt7349910\/fullcredits\/?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Nightmare Cinema<\/em><\/a> that are continuing to appear a week after the film&#8217;s premiere at the <a href=\"https:\/\/fantasiafestival.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fantasia International Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Since I&#8217;ve received good feedback on <a href=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/2018\/07\/14\/12427\/\">last week&#8217;s list of reviews<\/a>, today&#8217;s post is a compilation of additional notices that have appeared over the past few days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here we go:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThis Way to Egress\u201d [&#8230;] is well-written, very unnerving, and left me creeped the Hell out. [Read more at <a href=\"http:\/\/366weirdmovies.com\/2018-fantasia-festival-a-slice-of-strange\/\">366 Weird Movies<\/a>.]<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">It straddles the line of truth and fiction while tackling some serious subjects [&#8230;]. [Read more at <a href=\"https:\/\/klling.wordpress.com\/2018\/07\/13\/fantasia-2018-nightmare-cinema-world-premiere-2018\/\">Tranquil Dreams<\/a>.]<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">After years of working in the (admittedly lucrative) world of genre television (<em>Hannibal<\/em>, <em>American Gods<\/em>, <em>Black Mirror<\/em>), David Slade finally returns to film with this black-and-white existential horror piece that chases a sense of unease rather than shocks [&#8230;]. This is a smart change both visually and tonally from the other segments that gives <em>Nightmare Cinema<\/em> the breadth that Garris likely envisioned when wrangling the project together. It\u2019s also a welcome return of the brilliant filmmaker behind <em>Hard Candy<\/em> and <em>30 Days of Night<\/em>. All the right buttons are pushed, making this fanciful Hail Mary the anthology\u2019s most endearing and heartfelt surprise.
