It\u2019s all about the importance of doing, as in <em>Death of a Salesman,<\/em> where all-talk Willy Loman is amazed to learn that all-walk Bernard is going to argue a case before the supreme court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe Supreme Court!\u201d Willy says. \u201cAnd he didn\u2019t even mention it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To which Bernard\u2019s father replies, \u201cHe don\u2019t have to \u2013 he\u2019s gonna do it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><em>Don Keefer reprising his Broadway role as Bernard in the 1951 film version of Death of A Salesman, with Fredric March as Willy Loman. <\/em>IMDB.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I find it helpful to remember that exchange when I fall behind on this blog. \u201cI\u2019m busy walking the walk,\u201d I tell myself, even though there are folks out there who manage both.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A few years back, I did a blog post on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/2011\/07\/26\/the-writer-social-media\/\">The Writer &amp; Social Media<\/a>,\u201d in which I quoted Robert J. Sawyer (one of the first sf writers to have a blog) on the current state of author websites. \u201cAlmost all author webpages are appallingly hard to read, not updated, and lacking in current content,\u201d Sawyer said. Now, to be fair, those qualities likely results from writers being busy writing stuff that pays. Nevertheless, to avoid being one of those guys with an out-of-date webpage, I\u2019d like to take a moment to share some news about what I&#8217;ve got cooking for 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick preview:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15757 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Unnerving.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Unnerving.png 557w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Unnerving-239x300.png 239w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/>First up, hot off the presses, is Issue 12 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Unnerving-Magazine-Issue-Eddie-Generous\/dp\/1989206379\/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1ELHILQ9CZL51&amp;keywords=unnerving+magazine&amp;qid=1583068978&amp;sprefix=unnerving%2Caps%2C141&amp;sr=8-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Unnerving Magazine<\/em>,<\/a> the publication that a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingstories.com\/2019\/12\/clubhouse-review-unnerving-magazine-issue-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">review<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingstories.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Amazing Stories<\/em><\/a> called a \u201cmust-read\u201d for fans of the horror genre. The current issue includes a feature titled \u201cMy First Horror\u201d with Cat Rambo, Daniel Kraus, and Richard Chizmar; an interview with the prolific William Meikle; and a roster of fiction that includes my story \u201cCircle of Lias.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;Lias&#8221; first appeared in Tom Montelelone&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Borderlands-4-Elizabeth-Monteleone\/dp\/1565041100\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Borderlands+4+Monteleone&amp;qid=1582982001&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Borderlands 4<\/em><\/a> back in 1994, and though it received good notice, it has only been reprinted once (in my collection <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/This-Way-Egress-Lawrence-Connolly\/dp\/B004WOVICY\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=This+Way+to+Egress+Connolly&amp;qid=1582982097&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>This Way to Egress)<\/em><\/a> until now. &#8220;Lias&#8221; is one of my personal favorites, and I\u2019m thrilled to have it back in print.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15771 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/wicked-library-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/wicked-library-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/wicked-library-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/wicked-library-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/wicked-library.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next, coming to earbuds everywhere, the popular horror-story podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/thewickedlibrary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Wicked Library<\/em><\/a> will soon be launching its tenth season with a roster of all-new creepy tales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Founded by writer and vocal performer <a href=\"https:\/\/thewickedlibrary.com\/nelson-w-pyles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nelson W. Pyles,<\/a> <em>The Wicked Library&#8217;s<\/em>\u00a0stated mission is &#8220;to provide a showcase where you can find the work of the best existing and up-and-coming voices working in the world of Speculative Fiction and Horror.&#8221; The episodes are performed by a talented team of voice actors and produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/thewickedlibrary.com\/daniel-foytik\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Foytik<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/9thstory.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">9th Story Studios<\/a>, with musical scores by resident composer <a href=\"https:\/\/thewickedlibrary.com\/nico-vettese\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nico Vetesse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15886 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/9th-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"193\" height=\"249\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Each installment is available for free at <a href=\"https:\/\/thewickedlibrary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Wicked Library<\/em><\/a> website, where listeners have the opportunity to access additional content by signing on as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/wickedlibrary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">patreon member<\/a>. The essay presents what I trust is a timely consideration of two vintage short stories &#8212; Ray Bradbury&#8217;s &#8220;The Murderer&#8221; and Arthur C. Clarke&#8217;s &#8220;Dial F for Frankenstein.&#8221; Considered together, the stories present a dire warning for the world of 2020. I&#8217;ll share a link to the issue as soon as it&#8217;s available.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15801 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Nightmares-202x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Nightmares-202x300.jpg 202w, https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Nightmares.jpg 646w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 197px) 100vw, 197px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Also in the works is a U.S. edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/antologia-nightmares.myshopify.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Nightmares.<\/em><\/a> The Mexican release generated good notice when it made its debut at the <a href=\"https:\/\/lawrencecconnolly.com\/archive\/2019\/11\/07\/nightmares-at-sustefest-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SusteFest International Film Festival<\/a> in Valle de Santiago last October. The new edition will contain the first U.S. publication of Mick Garris&#8217;s &#8220;Chocolate&#8221; (the story that became the basis for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0643101\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Masters of Horror<\/em><\/a> segment of the same name), the first English-language publication of a story by Sandra Becerril (one of Mexico&#8217;s bestselling horror writers), a gripping piece of psychological terror by Richard Christian Matheson, and the first-ever American reprint of one of my tales from <em>This Way to Egress<\/em>. We&#8217;re also working on including some special content that will be new to the American edition.
