\"\"Gauntlet Press<\/a> is now shipping the numbered edition of the first English-language release of Nightmares<\/em><\/a>, an anthology in which I rejoin three of my collaborators from the feature film Nightmare Cinema<\/em><\/a> (2019).<\/p>\n

The stories featured in the book are:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs You Sleep\u201d<\/strong> by Mexico\u2019s bestselling author Sandra Becerill, whose most recent books include La Soledad de los P\u00e1jaros<\/em> and Valle de Fuego<\/em>. Her screenplay for the film Desde tu Infierno<\/em><\/a> was nominated for an Ariel, Mexico\u2019s Academy Award. In all, she has written scripts for 65 feature films and television programs, 32 of which have been produced.<\/p>\n

Though well regarded as a master of Spanish-language horror, Sandra remains to be discovered by readers in the States. The English translation of her story \u201cAs You Sleep\u201d in the Gauntlet Press edition of Nightmares<\/em>\u00a0(which she also edits) should help change that.<\/p>\n

\u201cChocolate\u201d<\/strong> by producer, director, and writer Mick Garris, whose groundbreaking Showtime series Masters of Horror<\/a><\/em> featured work by the greatest horror writers and directors of all time, including John Carpenter (Halloween<\/em>), Joe Dante (Gremlins<\/em>), and John Landis (An American Werewolf in London<\/em>). He is also the director of ABC\u2019s television adaptations of Stephen King\u2019s The Stand<\/em><\/a> and The Shining<\/em><\/a>, the writer of Hocus Pocus<\/em><\/a>, and executive producer of the Angelina Jolie-directed film Unbroken<\/em><\/a>. And of course, he is the creator and producer of Nightmare Cinema<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTransfiguration\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>by screenwriter and novelist Richard Christian Matheson, whose work has been featured in Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories<\/em><\/a> and Stephen King\u2019s Nightmares & Dreamscapes<\/em><\/a> as well as Mick Garris\u2019s Masters of Horror<\/em><\/a>. His books include The Ritual or Illusion<\/em><\/a> (which I reviewed here<\/a>) and Zoopraxis<\/em><\/a>. He is also the son the Richard Matheson, whose novel Somewhere In Time<\/em><\/a> was one of the titles featured in Mystery Theatre’s \u201cTime is Out of Joint.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReckoning\u201d<\/strong>–a story that originally appeared in my collection This Way to Egress<\/em><\/a>, and is being reprinted for the first time in Nightmares<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Nightmares<\/em> features a foreword by John Skipp and striking cover art by director David Slade, whom you may know from his NBC series Hannibal<\/em> <\/a>as well as such feature films as Twilight Eclipse<\/em><\/a>,\u00a030 Days Of Night<\/em><\/a>, and the adaptation of my story This Way to Egress<\/em><\/a> for Mick Garris’s Nightmare Cinema<\/em><\/a>. In 2019, David won an Emmy for Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
