\"with<\/a>Whether sung or recited — it’s all story. And this weekend Lauren Connolly-Moore and I will be exploring the connections between story and song in a four-hour show that gets underway at 8:00 on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

The place is Riley’s Pour House<\/a> in Carnegie, the same place where our story night events have been taking place.<\/p>\n

Weather permitting, we’ll be performing on Riley’s outdoor stage — under the same stars that we had hoped would make an appearance for our “Starry Nights, Celestial Conversations<\/a>” storytelling event last week.<\/p>\n

Either way, inside or out,\u00a0we’ve got some stories to sing.<\/p>\n

We’ll start the night with songs of departure<\/a> — leaving the Port of Liverpool for America (“Fare Thee Well”), leaving Derry\u00a0for Van Diemen’s Land (“Wish I was Back Home in Derry”), and even leaving Pittsburgh (“Six Days on the Road”).<\/p>\n

In all, it should be a great way to consider our shared\u00a0roots (we\u00a0all left\u00a0somewhere to get here), share some stories, and enjoy the company of the best people you\u2019re likely to find this side of Dingle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We’ll hope to see you there. In the meantime, here are a couple of tunes to get you in the mood. The first is traditional, the second original. I recorded both with the Laughrey Connolly band a few years back. The stories are about times long ago, but the sentiments are as true as ever.<\/p>\n
