Super Stocking Stuffers!

Minute Men in Print, eBook & Audio.

Books are “the quintessential Christmas — or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or other December celebration — gift.” So writes New York Times book review editor Jennifer Harlan in her article “How a Good Book Became the ‘Richest’ of Holiday Gifts.”

Supporting that point, writer and editor Tom Connair sent us the picture below, along with a note reading, “This pic will give you an idea what a few book-loving friends of mine will be getting as holiday gifts this year.”

It Only Takes a Minute

With online sellers offering discounts and free shipping options, it’s never been easier to give the gift of reading.

And before wrapping the book …

Remember the inscription

One of the great things about gifting a printed book is the way it can be personalized. Long or short, your handwritten note will serve as a reminder of your thoughtfulness for years to come.

Above: An inscription on the contents page of Minute Men: Execute & Run reads “For all the chapters yet to come.”

Some additional inscription recommendations, offered at Penguin Random House, are:

  • “Hope this brings you as much joy as it brought me.”
  • “May this book take you somewhere wonderful.”
  • “From my bookshelf to yours.”

And be sure to include the date below your signature.

Audiobooks & ePubs

Digital editions also make terrific gifts, either individually or combined with a print edition.

When gift wrapping a traditional book, I sometimes include a card telling the recipient that they will also be receiving an email link for an audio or ePub edition. And when I’m feeling really industrious, I’ll print a bookmark with a QR code for accessing the digital edition.

Special Deals from the Publisher of Minute Men

A few weeks back, I told you about some special deals that Amazon and Audible are offering on the MM: E&R audiobook. Now, here’s an eBook offer that’s too good to pass up.

This month, the multi-award-winning publisher of Minute Men: Execute & Run is running their biggest eBook sale ever. It features many of their bestselling titles, most discounted 50% or more.

Some are even offered for FREE!

The books included in the sale are by some big names in the world of science fiction and fantasy, among them: Harry Turtledove, Mercedes Lackey, Robert A. Heinlein, Leigh Brackett … and the Connolly Bros!

And yes, since Minute Men: Execute & Run is one of the sale titles, you can purchase that eBook directly from the publisher for 50% off the regular price.

Latest Podcasts

Starting this week, and continuing every Wednesday and Thursday this month, brother Chris and I will be featured on new installments of the Sci-Fi Thoughts Podcast with Lancer Kind. Named one of the Top Sci-Fi Podcasts by FeedSpot.com, Sci-Fi Thoughts promises to “tantalize you with thoughts on movies and literature through intelligent and engaging discussion.”

I also recently had the chance to join hosts Matt, Jonjo, and Pete on the freewheeling Geek Pride Cast, wherein we talk Sci-fi, Horror, the writing process, and much more! The conversation clocks in at about an hour and a half. It’s a great way to burn 90 minutes (IMHO). Check it out. I’ll meet you there.
