This month’s discussion topic at PARSEC is: Science Fiction – Change at the Speed of Thought. Along the way, we’ll be considering a claim made recently by Josh Raulerson (one of the event’s panelists) on the podcast Nanograms.
“Science fiction is imploding because all the hypotheticals are coming true.”
Should make for an interesting discussion.
Here’s a portion of the press release from the PARSEC website:
This month’s guest panel includes:
Joshua Raulerson who earned his PhD in English from the University of Iowa in 2010. He is the local host of NPR’s Morning Edition on 90.5 WESA and the host and producer of 90.5 WESA’s new technology & culture podcast, Nanograms: Brief Messages From the Very Near Future?
Thomas Sweterlitsch is the author of “Tomorrow and Tomorrow” and the forthcoming novel “Libra.” He lives in Pittsburgh.
And yes, as the poster says, the 21st-Century Scop will be there too.
It all happens today at 2:00, Squirrel Hill Branch of the Carnegie Library, 5801 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA. Drop by if you’re in town, or stop back here soon for a follow-up report. Until then . . . scop on!
